'Sleep well, dude': Man leaves loud neighbor with parting gift after long standing neighborly dispute

Your neighbors are your closest allies. They can assist with receiving packages, impart insightful information about the surrounding area, keep a watchful eye on your home, and much more. However, should misfortune find you and you are forced to live next door to a horrible person who has been a headache since the minute she arrived, do you participate in her little game of torment or do you cave into all of her absurd requests in an attempt to keep things at bay?

The Original Poster (OP) recently moved into a one-up, one-down duplex, with him living on the bottom floor and a couple on the top floor. At first, everything appeared to be going smoothly, but he soon discovered that his upstairs neighbors were some of the most hazardous people he had ever seen. They enjoyed constantly and loudly pounding on the doors of the tenants. What's the point of this, one could wonder? The answer, in my opinion, is very obvious: disturbing the building's residents.

    I moved into 1 up 1 down duplex and I live upstairs. We share a common back staircase and my downstairs and her family slam doors when going and coming. It's bothersome but I figured it's due to poor insulation. She's not an easy person to live near. Her husband left her because she has a bad temper and she would yell and throw furniture.

    She has a new boyfriend who visits often. One morning I was in my kitchen which has a door to the common staircase. He slams the door and she laughs at him and says sarcastically "we shouldn't slam doors, it's noisy" and then laughs. Then there's more door slamming.

    She's been problematic to our neighbors as well and cops have been called about her temper and reckless driving. Recently I was asked to leave by our landlord because he wants to move in his nephew when my lease ends.

    Today I added Sound of Da Police to my playlist and am playing it extra loud and over and over again. I ordered two more speakers so I can blast it from several rooms. I like opera too so I'll blast that as well. If I have to leave, I'm leaving her with something to remember me by. Thanks for letting me vent.

    EDIT: For all those asking why the landlord is not renewing her lease: she believes I've called the cops on her and has mostly likely told him I called them. I've met the other neighbors and they called the cops.

    can without going deaf and/or insane. I don't know how much lease you have left; just keep in mind that horrible neighbors are horrible in every area in their lives and they have a whole lot more experience in being horrible.

    code13dontask. 11 hr. ago Make sure to keep switching up the music that you are playing. Start with maybe throat singing, go for heavy metal and add in some opera. I would also have some songs on repeat and then to mix it up stop several songs after

    LibraryMouse4321.7 hr. ago Set an alarm clock to radio and have it not quite on the station, so it's staticky. Turn the volume up nice and loud, set a time when you are just getting to work, or the middle of the night when you aren't going to be home, and put it on the floor.

    Ask me how I know this is the most annoying? My downstairs neighbor went away for a couple of days and forgot to turn off his alarm. And it was off station, and very loud. It drove me batty and ready to bash heads. I even called the cops when my landlord wouldn't do anything. Nobody was able to do anything.

    were going in reverse. Then one Saturday morning our downstairs neighbor knocks on my door and informs me that there is a flood of water coming from one of our units. I go up to his unit and I heard beep-beep-beep. I felt so bad that I didn't investigate sooner. His front door was unlocked.

    The 7-11 has been playing opera, loudly on outside speakers. I happen to like opera and it is a cross between unnerving and humorous to hear a recognizable aria as I wait for the light to change.
